Cotton On is an extension to an existing building located in the Avalon Airport and at first glance this project seemed to be a typical industrial warehouse project. However, the challenges were considerable. The initial problem for PacifiCO was the shortage in steel supplies then stoppage in the factory due to Covid. Then on site PacifiCO had to install the extension with-out stopping operations on the existing building while dealing with wild winter weather of Melbourne. But the biggest challenge was erecting new columns on top through the roof, and fixing them to the existing rafters with-out stepping into the existing roof. Despite all the challenges PacifiCO was able to deliver and erect 572t of structural steel and 33,000lm of purlins and girts on schedule and full compliance to Australian standards.
